2022 | PAST
From Folk Remedies to Rural Medicine
Presented in summer 2022, this exhibition outlined the evolution of medicine, from Indigenous traditional practices to modern healthcare, with a particular focus on the history of medicine in the Témiscouata region.
Visitors discovered objects from the museum’s collection illustrating past practices, remedies, and tools. The exhibition also highlighted key milestones: the first surgery in the region took place 150 years ago, and the regional hospital has existed for 80 years.
Presented in a context where health and medicine were at the forefront of public concern, the exhibition invited reflection on the relationship between past and present medical practices.
