Territories of Identity:
Company Towns in Canada

During the summer of 2023, the Musée du Témiscouata hosted the travelling exhibition Territories of Identity: Company Towns in Canada.

This exhibition explored how companies across the country planned entire towns, pushing territorial boundaries to create model communities at the forefront of urban planning. It highlighted how these towns provided living environments for workers and their families, marked by pride and a strong sense of belonging.

The exhibition was produced by the Société d’histoire du Lac-Saint-Jean and L’Odyssée des Bâtisseurs, in partnership with the Canada Research Chair in Urban Heritage, with support from the governments of Canada and Quebec and the City of Alma.
